ok but can images work now. I want to post images. enough with the bit. it was funny for 2 minutes. why is the cdn doing a bit. cdns shouldn't do bits. they should serve images

technically they're always serving bits. but they should be serving bits not doing bits

about 30 minutes after posting this I was informed that I potentially already have fucked up a potentially large number of posts
Samuel@samuel.fm· 15 Sept 2023
Makes perfect sense to me but I don’t want to accidentally fuck up a potentially large % of posts. Especially since this would be all posts not just a weird special case like, say, custom poll posts

the future of posting is here
The quoted post with a massive POSTED VIA GRAYSKY watermark overlaid

doesn't seem that hard, you can just take the input text, render it to a jpeg, and put a sweet Greysky™ watermark on the image. you can even have festive holiday themed watermarks. default to efficient high-compression, upsell to GreyskyPlus for sharp PNG and better kerning

after all, why not

why shouldn’t i put random shit into the self-labelling field
Why@why.bsky.world· 15 Sept 2023
Paul and I actually disagree here, i think it’s totally fine to use labels in this way. Labels are statements made by some party about a post, and the self-labels are statements made by the author of the post. Plain and simple imo

just realised I can’t add a “posted by graysky” field to posts because then it would become embarrassingly obvious that I don’t use my own app

Fun fact: everyone has a HP stat, you just don’t know what it is until a battleship fires a broadside at you
Samuel@samuel.fm· 14 Sept 2023
And according to Naval Wargaming rules, it’s a direct hit from a 14 inch shell. Most people have <1 HP [citation needed]
