Hmm seems some people might be bouncing off the App Passwords requirement, I might make it a warning rather than mandatory

yeah i think a warning is good enough, i certainly don't bother with them mostly

maybe clarify that you need to generate the app password in the official app / web

yeah when I do another pass of the login I'll do a proper help screen with full instructions for stuff like that

Why? Seems to beat sharing your regular password as you can revoke then when needed?

People are saying it's not working/they can't log in. Probably just too complicated - which I mean, fair enough. It's not the end of the world if they use their main password anyway, because I don't do anything malicious with it. It's just that other people should do it for their own security

I think having instructions on the login screen of the alt clients will go a long way. It seems like a temporary solutions, would be good to see a more common login flow (like an oAuth log in with BlueSky)

I like the idea of supporting both with a warning! It also helps with the accounts on the local dev server (alice.test / hunter2)

yeah after posting the update it was immediately extremely annoying to go find my app password to log in again haha

I can imagine! I'm using a clipboard history tool (really helpful in general) so I only have to recall a small bit to retrieve it
