Ok this literally makes zero sense. Uploading a photo taken using the camera lags out the phone to high heaven, but if you open the gallery first before sending (even if you just close it immediately) fixes the issue

Doesn’t seem to be the case for me. If iOS, did you grant bsky access to your whole photo library? Just curious

Maybe opening gallery initializes something that needs to be initialized for using camera?
