ah jesus christ turns out the reason I had no storage was my 50GB yarn cache I haven't used yarn since I switched to pnpm!

containers full of containers used to build javascript, each needing half a gig of memory, dumping the contents into a node container that runs twenty at a time on an autoscaling kube deployment nobody knows how to read. software is going great
