Building an app is fascinating because you get to learn how people use their phones completely differently to the way you do. For example, people are desperate for share intent - something I use very rarely

to make matters worse, android used to have layout-shift issues where more options could load when you were in the middle of tapping another option

Not sure if it's the same use case - I *think* I mostly use share intent when I see articles I wanna to share to the timeline and I don't see the "quick share to social media" icons on the site (For Bsky anyways).

Yeah see I never press those buttons I just copy paste the url 100% of the time. I rarely if ever share directly to apps - maybe to WhatsApp to share a photo from Photos once in a while

Oh, interesting. That's the flow I follow on desktop. On Mobile, I find it much more efficient to use the quick share. Rather than double-tapping the URL to copy it, get out of the browser, open the other app, tap post, and paste the URL.

I always assumed those buttons would add tracking data in the querystring so copypasting the URL is just default behavior

I would not say mostly. But more often than not, I find myself reading content on mobile and naturally wanting to share via using that medium.
