i can’t tell you how many friends i’ve had who’ve said this and then turned out to have a fracture, hopefully you don’t but an x-ray would be sure!

I am concerned but I called the non-emergency line and they said ice it and keep an eye on it

Yeah, it'll either get worse or better, which sounds like a stupid thing to say, but it's pretty diagnostic: in my experience, fractures don't hurt less in the morning, they hurt more.
