Yeah, I noticed you fixed the IME insets not working right a while back. I ran into the same thing (and figured out my own fix in Jetpack Compose) before I had to put my app project a bit on hold due to too many irons in the fire and that one not being paid.

Window insets stuff, probably. It's weird and annoying, mostly bc it has to support so many screen configurations. Not sure how much control your app framework gives you over it, the official sdk has a ton of degrees of freedom which are both useful and footguns, depending.

Is this Stock Android? I often come across more issues when its Android that's been messed up by Samsung or some other OEM.
