@pfrazee.com narrowed down the “unclearable notifications” bug to something to do with the account switch mechanism. I was seeing this accounts notifications screen while logged into @graysky.app, notifications weren’t clearing, then when I switched to this one they still wouldn’t clear

you think? I figure it was because people weren't fetching all of their unreads in the UI by scrolling all the way down, which is currently the (bad) logic. I'm about to work on it

ah yeah that does sound like a reasonable mechanistic explaination. im seeing patterns that aren't there then

yeah it's 1000% this. out of nowhere all my notifications were unread (even though I'd previously read all but a couple) and had to scroll way back to clear them
