Idk how much you know about react but it’s this apparently https://legacy.reactjs.org/docs/lists-and-keys.html
reusing keys lead react to incorrectly reuse some elements that should’ve been different sizes
Would there be a way for us to manually choose where an image is cropped? This would GREATLY benefit all visual artists on Bsky.
It was one of our main complaints with how twitter cropped images automatically as well. If we could choose the preview it would alleviate the frustrations!
What's the motivation for cropping to specific aspect ratios? Just simplicity/consistency? I guess a multi-image post looks ~funky if you opt to only resize and the aspect ratios are wildly different, but it would avoid the cropping issue, with sane limits, since you do have the data pre-layout.
we actually try to preserve the original aspect ratio when it's a single image, but we have to apply an upper bound so people don't post giant vertical images that ruin the feed
Had a convo with a comic artist that was posting a long work (like 2k px vertical), and the preview was fine but the text was impossible to read on click through the downsample was so harsh. Any suggestions?
Yeah that's was I was meaning in terms of limits. But I had some layout math I was doing in mine where if it could leave e.g. landscape orientation images uncropped in single column and come under some height limit it would, and for portrait orientation images just not crop to square in 2 column.
