Bluesky doesn’t just have one algorithm - we have 1000s! Discover is our flagship algorithmic feed, but developers can build feed generators that use any algorithm they can dream of! We love algorithms, but we don’t want to lock you in one - hence why you get to choose!

we really need a way to communicate the concept of “algorithmic choice” better - algorithms can great! and objectively, you like using them. we’re all about giving you the tools to curate your own experience and choosing your algorithm is a huge part of that

and of course if you’re not a fan, just use “following”, that’s just simple reverse chronological

And if you haven't realised that Algorithms are nice yet then go try Mastodon, you should learn quickly.

Seems a general issue these days, all along with the drawbacks of the walled garden networks, "algorithm" has turned a concept people love to hate, often without having a somewhat clearer idea of what algorithms actually are.

Threads is shitty for many people, me included, in large part because its algorithm is absolutely awful. Mastodon can be overwhelming, in part because there is no algorithms to help you sort through your timeline. None of these two issues exist on Bluesky, thanks to algorithmic choice.
