honestly have a lot of sympathy for Jordan here and not just because we worked together at one point; as much as I think minimizing a dep tree is a priori good, seeing Rich dance around accusations of payola driven development or whatever is frustrating

This is like watching a politics debate, at some point it's not about the code at all, and I am unable to form an opinion but: - replacing deps with your own for such a marginal edge case is nasty - accusing someone of manipulating OSS for personal gain is nasty Nasty, nasty PR discussion
