“hello my fellow kids, what if we crammed snapchat, twitter, tumblr, bluesky, clubhouse, reddit, & myspace all into instagram? wouldn’t that make you want to look at ads more??? what if we added ai influencers we refuse to moderate who algorithmically generate CSAM?? pretty captivating, right??”
I was on Threads at a time when I was desperate for a Twitter replacement. For a brief shiny second, they had it, and then decided to Facebook all over it.
I tried Threads several times since it linked to my Instagram, but I found the need for an Instagram account actually annoying in the end. I just wanted a Threads account. Meta behind the scene is a downside. And Bluesky has improved a lot, so I now only use that social network.
Wonder if there's a specific reason they've suddenly started giving a shit. Are the internal numbers suddenly really bad? No way they're doing all this out of the goodness of their heart after sitting pretty for months
