Huh so do these interactions only show up as notifications for you? Like when I go to the threads app I can't see theoretically bridged likes to your post at all
To be fair, I suspect shipping proper Fediverse integration is giving nightmares to Meta’s compliance/legal department
I get why they’re cautious
That being said, I’m not optimistic that Fediverse integration will one day be a first class citizen in Threads
It’s likely
Another possible explanation is that Meta doesn’t integrate Threads with the Fediverse in the EU to put pressure on the European Commission à la Apple
Both explanations can be true at the same time
Although I'm really rooting for the Fediverse (I've been coding a Fediverse software for more than a decade now), I don't think it's relevant enough to use it to put pressure on the EU.
how long has it been in beta like this, haven't they promised to implement it long ago already?
imagine building a platform that claims how it federates and never properly implementing the federation in the first place, fedi (& bridged) users are treated as second-class
