ok here's an imcomplete list of visual improvements - tab bar blue indicator is synced with the swipe gesture (thanks @danabra.mov!) - drawer swipe gesture works now (also Dan!) - new headers! (thanks @esb.lol!) - profile screen banner bleeds into the safe area cont.

📢 App Version 1.96 is rolling out now (1/6) In this release: a notifications Mentions tab, reserving your default username when you verify your account with a domain, and other improvements!
Bluesky 1.96. Improvements: New "Mentions" tab in notifications. Usernames on .bsky.social are now reserved when you switch to your own domain. New button to change reply ordering and visual style in threads. Visual improvements to the app. New translations: Nepali, Khmer, and Romanian.

- headers are now sticky on web and the weird floaty back button is gone - you can see the exact following/follow count in the headers of the corresponding screens - native scrollbars are in the right place uhh I'll add more as I think of them cause there were loads

it's unreal how much better it makes the app feel. this + the lightbox animation (also Dan) have done wonders. we're a Real App now

the implementation is fun and nuanced: github.com/bluesky-soci.... another fun fact: i first tried to do this a year ago and miserably failed on android (it was too slow there). turns out the key is to treat it like a 2012 browser (only animate GPU properties etc)

it would be cool if the “# posts” had a screen like the others, it could take you to a feed of your posts sorted by likes descending (most popular posts first)

i know most of you are disgusting animals that only use the app instead of the site in a browser but this arrow to return to your feed from a post used to be to the left of the vertical line, right?

did they really now, I've been running the latest android beta this whole time and the animation was there, now the app opening feels slower (pixel 7a)

Not sure if already flagged but in the post compose view there now seems to be a large gap at the bottom. It shrinks slightly when the keyboard is open. (Android 15)

i think the header should only bleed after scrolling otherwise the images get cut by notches/floating island/cameras

Yeah but now the notch on my iPhone cuts off Tom's head in my banner and he's even more pissed. If rents go up this'll be because of that.
