One out of two is still worth it. Apple used to do matte screens ago and they were always better for me.
It’s also great if you ever find yourself in an office again with overhead lighting. Little to no glare.
worth, don’t have to worry about wear/smudges ever, easier on the eyes (imo)
just peeled after one year and replaced it, should be good for 2025 bsky.app/profile/zeu....
I have it, and it is so much nicer than my previous MacBook screen. Even if you are not outside, the older MacBook picks up a little glare from ambient light. The nano texture is just consistent view and color.
I haven't seen it but typically matte screens are less sharp than glossy screens. I'd only get it if I had to work in direct sunlight a lot of the time.
Last and only time I had a matte MacBook screen was when Apple offered it on the 2011 MacBook Pros, and I was in art school.
It was excellent for mitigating glare, and colour accuracy when designing for print (which I was working in at the time). But since then, I have never wanted it again.
I do, however, have a matte screen protector in my iPad, bc it helps with reading, and makes drawing with the Apple Pencil feel a teeny bit more natural.
I was in two minds and opted not to go for it and don’t regret my decision who doesn’t work outdoors with my laptop. Blacks didn’t look black at all to me in a well lit store.
Saw the nano texture MacBook Pros today in person. My thoughts:
Somehow looks better than the iMac displays. Application is less obvious.
Definitely defuses light better but works both ways which makes blacks look flat.
Plenty of brightness but HDR not as punchy as the regular display.
