Yeah, it's not cute or "ah-ha!" Why does it get smaller? If it were politely getting out of the way or like it was shy, that would be joyful. But it doesn't seem to signify anything, and it's unexpected, so if anything, it's a bit disorienting. It may actually make more sense if it got bigger.

Tentatively agree, I really appreciate the functionality, but the hover behaviour seems a little strange Maybe would make more sense if the most recent account avatars appeared alongside (after the shrink?). As is is a little confusing imo

Yeah, don't get me wrong, the effect is really smooth and perhaps could work really well on something else. But here, I think it doesn't. PS Sorry @srsholmes.com there wasn't enough character limit for the previous message to also complement.

I think I agree on the ah-ha part, but I wonder if the cursor in the recording (not being the pointer hand) is actually the main thing causing it to not indicate that it does something. And if it had that, maybe it wouldn't need to be cute?

I wonder if it showed some text in between the avi and ...? Like "switch profile" or something?

What I meant by "it isn't cute" is: if it's not functional (eg a cue), it should be cute. If it's going to shrink, it could shrink _into_ the menu. Then it's providing a cue to what the feature does. Or, perhaps the menu appears out of the shrinking thing, making it look like zooming into the air.
