Really hate the sidebar feed list. Please make it something that I can turn offโฆ I will leave BlueSky if this doesnโt change. I canโt stand it. Itโs horrible. Please, I am begging you, please fix this. Itโs terrible.
Hate it so much! Terrible intrusion! iPad horizontally is how I use it, and I donโt want to turn it vertically because of the case I use. Please make it go away!
This is on iPad, yes? @samuel.bsky.team can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it should go away if you turn your iPad so that it's vertical instead of horizontal (or resize the window so that it's less wide)
No โย it's a Macbook. The sidebar does go away on the laptop if I resize, but I'm for some reason deeply disconcerted by the new smaller viewing pane. There's a good chance that, as of, say, later today, I won't notice the sidebar anymore, so I've decided panic is probably unnecessary.
Oh, how interesting! I use Bluesky on my MacBook, and I haven't seen any change: that column has always been there. I wonder why it's different for you! Is yours a very small one, e.g., 12-inch?
Anyhow, apologies for prolonging this, and as you say, I'm sure you'll stop noticing it in a few hours
it's the new breakpoint. if it's a small screen, or the browser window is not full width, it shows the tablet breakpoint (always has, not new). what's new is the tablet breakpoint now shows the right side nav
It's not a very small one โย I've always zoomed in a bit on Bluesky, and now I'm wondering whether I did that initially to get rid of the sidebar. Now, at the same magnification, the sidebar is there. I can make it disappear if I go EVEN BIGGER, but that makes posts look as if they're yelling at me.
That is a sensible question โ the kind of question no one should make jokes about. (I made the font size small, zoomed out more, and now it looks pretty much exactly like it did before. So thank you!)
Not a bug (sorry), but in my opinion a usability issue you might want to fix. When you upload a video which exceeds the max file size, you first have to close the error notice for the upload icon to appear again. Wouldn't it be more convenient to display the button anyway? Unnecessary clicks for me.
this is in 1.98, idk if it was fixed in 1.99 (dont see it in the changelog so posting it anyways). not sure what causes the issue it seems to be at random but its happened a few times to me recently. on android (galaxy note 20 ultra). also using gboard which might be relevant to w/e is happening.
coming back around to this, i think it's triggered when you close/re-open the app during composition. but inconsistently. i can only get it to trigger sometimes. tried clearing the cache in both bsky/gboard mid-composition to see if that triggered it as well but it doesn't.
not as important but upload failed on this for my original attempt at uploading the video; i had to downscale it for the compressor to accept it. original screen recording is 8.98MB, 1080 x 2316. downscaled version is 5.42MB, 864 x 1852.
On android app: if you view your likes and reposts before the notification it used to cancel the notification. In the last month, or so, the notification hits after you've put your phone down, making you think it's another when it isn't
a while earlier on web i shrunk the size of the window and the item names on the left disappeared and there was a post's worth of empty space stuck up at the top of the feed
can't reproduce it though
Tiny bug: Width overflow on mobile web due to the font being less than 16pxโฆ I dug into the repo and couldnโt figure out why it was 14pxโฆ it was over my head with how the design tokens are being set on web
I spent a solid hour reading through it, but could not figure out how `14px` is being set (I think there is some system level values set...) with ALF + device + scaling logic. I was as they say, lost in the sauce. Perhaps bug in scaling math

I was a little thrown off with the complexity. But, the web UX is SO good overall - that is literally my only complaint. The complex dialogs/forms/feeds/etc all work great ๐ฏ
Sometimes when I send a skeet via DM, the media is very small and leaves a big gap between the next message. The video plays at this very tiny size. I'm on Galaxy S24 Ultra.
embed.bsky.app seems not upgraded to v1.99, as web app now supports color mode customization for embed but embed itself isn't
(Obv it's not a bug, but in case you forgot to deploy - sorry for buzzing your notification, always appreciate your teams' work!)
In my DM request list show some old chats. Those are chats where I send a message to a mutual without getting a response on that message.
Seems weird to me that an outgoing message is a request that I can accept or reject.
When opening a list, you see two tabs at the top; โPostsโ and โPeopleโ. They donโt seem to be translatable. The corresponding strings available in Crowdin only seem to apply to starter packs, not lists. That should be fixed. :)
The number of notifications shown on the little bell icon is rarely accurate or up to date. It often shows zero when there are actually several responses waiting.
I cant replicate it consistently, but doing longer periods of use the "back" top right arrow stops functioning on iOS if you are clicked into viewing a single thread. The only fix I've found is to kill and restart the app. Usually happens if I'm switching to other apps a lot?
i scroll up on the convo screen and when it touches the top of the screen it immediately goes/scrolls to the bottom of the screen. is this an expected behavior? see video.
I've had a bug report open since December that hasn't received any traction. I think it's been assigned the tracking code 4DMWMW-4KW1Y, or at least that's what's in the automated emails I got back. Could you please take a look?
FF 136.0, dekstop. If the Bsky window is resized to a "mobile" width (mine's on the right-hand third of a 1920x1080 screen), the repost button flyout appears off-screen when in a main feed, making it un-clickable.
Also, no emoji picker in the post/reply box.
can you post a screenshot? I can't reproduce
and re: emoji picker, yeah that's because we assume screens that small are going to be phones which have emoji keyboards. might be a smarter way to do that though!
Hmm. Just tried a bunch of times, and it didn't happen. The "mechanic/IT person giving a problem attention suddenly fixes it" thing in action. ๐คฃ
There is an odd "zooming/shifting" effect still when the flyout appears, tho.
Not in the OS (didn't know that was a thing in Win10 until I just looked), but maybe in FF, I think. I might have changed it due to websites putting stupidly-narrow scrollbars on everything.
