link warning dialog test warning https://mislead.ing

Incredible URL. 🫡

Social media as it should be. Find your community among millions of users, unleash your creativity, and have some fun again.

Btw I have a stash of bug reports for bsky.app . Do you have a service-desk or queue or Jira/Trello/Linear/Notion board somewhere? My most recently-noted one is, on Android (Firefox), when typing, typing causes the screen to scroll away from the cursor.

Who's paying this guy called Samuel? Are you reading my tweet? Pay the guy more than you currently are!

Wait, if it's open-source (MIT license), that seems to mean that I can self-host it, edit it, and see if I can fix my own bugs? 🤔

absolutely!! PRs always welcome too :)

deer.social is a semi-divergent fork of social-app doing interesting things

@alice.mosphere.at once again makes an appearance, and has already introduced me to it: bsky.app/profile/did:... but so far I didn't really appreciate the difference. I guess I'm not a heavy-enough user of Bsky to benefit from it.

1. Ok, I've just signed in there. 2. Why isn't there OAuth, but rather username-password basic auth? 3. What are winning features of this client?

Onno Benschop 21 Apr 2025

Yeah, I think it’ll be interesting to see where it goes. I think they’re experimenting with allowing anyone to verify anyone else for example

This link didn't put up a warning, the other two did.

Uhhhhhhhhh @jcsalterego.bsky.social?

A screenshot of this post with a popover menu with the title “Leaving Bluesky”

under that it reads “Wait…did Jerry tell you to do this?”

Then shows the link being directed to which is “https/google.com”

Under that are two buttons
The top says “visit site”

The bottom says “cancel”

is this what i think it is

May I ask how are these "link warn modals" made?

we compare the facet to what the display text is to see if that’s what the link shortening algorithm would produce

Heh, this looks very similar to what I built for Discord's. Choosing to highlight the TLD separately is :chefs-kiss:

What are you changing? 👀

just making it a bit prettier

Btw, I've noticed that this link opens in full Safari in the separate app, while normal links open in the in-app browser popup, is that something you can fix easily?

yep, noticed that, new version will fix it

And related question - I've noticed that sometime last year, some update changed it so the SafariVC view opens as a modal sheet that slides in from the bottom, I'm pretty sure it used to be pushed on the nav stack from the right - was that intentional or just some library update?

that was me, I prefer the sheet presentation

:< The sheet is way harder to close when used one-handed :p
