What does the URI and CID point to in reasonRepost? The repost record, or the post the repost is referring to?

@samuel.bsky.team So to get the process clear, a repost would take a FeedViewPost, check the reason is a repost, and then fill out the via strong reference with the repost record under reason in the FeedViewPost? Can't do it with just a post record strong reference?

So I have a repost method that just takes the aturi/cid of a post. Nothing more, so no reasons etc. are available with that.

@samuel.bsky.team stupid question. If I have the at-uri of a post, for example if I saved or bookmarked one then there’s no way to get the feed view post in under to populate via because it’s now detected from the feed you saved it from. Is that correct?

But search gives me a PostView right? Not a FeedPostView? And I can repost from there but the it won’t get the right information for a via?

yeah search doesn’t give you reposts, only feeds/profile feeds this is only when you see a post that has been reposted by someone else. if it’s a standalone post you just leave the via field blank
