Linear’s Liquid Glass reimplementation doesn’t look half bad - until you start actually using it, and realise that it’s 300x worse without the squishy feedback and animations. it feels dead

“Liquid Glass except we care about contrast and accessibility” sounds great and when it works it works but this implementation is a little underbaked imo

Linear clearly doesn’t care much about accessibility when you look at the contrast ratios in their apps

It’s not meant as an attack it’s just true. There are plenty of good things about linear accessibility wise but contrast ratios and readability are not among them in many cases.

It’s also weird to be doing it on Android. You should really be tailoring your app to each platform’s norms.

concur. if android folks wanted software that behaved and looked like iOS software, they wouldn't have chosen android. software that doesn't respect platforms doesn't respect the money people spent on their devices.

“Reimplementation”?! 😳 What on earth designer ego would possess you, in the year of our lord 2025, to *reimplement* Apple’s design system? I thought that kinda shit was a ZIRP.

It is pretty meh, especially in light mode where you can barely tell they’ve done anything
