I really am finding that I prefer to use claude to write a very small amount of difficult code than a large amount of easy code

I've had the opposite experience so far but am still new to Claude Code. It's so far proven VERY good at doing a bunch of remedial tasks that are time consuming but not difficult, but has not yet succeeded for me in doing things that are more complicated but require more nuance.

it only works when you’re putting in just as much effort. claude is great at being the Watson to your Holmes - creating minimal reproductions and testbeds, using their generalist knowledge etc

Interesting. I'll have to explore its capabilities some more. I don't want it to replace coding for me (I like coding!) but I think there's an opportunity for me to actually learn from it if I can keep its output at a pace I can handle

Although I have concerns about the ethics of AI, some of the concerns developers raise about it feel out of touch. You're meaning to tell me every bit of cognition and executive skill you're spending is well spent and equally important? Really?

I've been debugging a little personal project with Claude Code, and it really does go like this, completely inverted process! Day 1: Write the entire codebase Day 5: Working through the problem a line at a time
