attie is really cool. we built a massive database of every post and let Claude write SQL queries for it, to make dynamic custom feeds for anything you can think of
Jay 🦋@jay.bsky.team· 28 Mar
Today, we’re excited to introduce Attie, currently as an invite-only closed beta. Attie is the first agentic social app on atproto. It’s something completely new — an experiment in making building on the protocol more accessible.

I see people dunking on “agentic” but it’s very much an accurate descriptor. It’s not “Claude pls give me posts”, it’s “Claude please write the rules engine for a custom feed”

I can see how this is different from a basic search tool, my main question is: since my preferences are very specific and also (for me) hard to describe, how can Claude know what rules would be optimal to build a feed for me?

There's certain topics Claude could easily know I'm interested in, but also topics I've never heard of that might interest me. And I prefer to read posts that talk about things in a novel or unconventional way. I love humor, but don't love it in some contexts.

Whoops. I thought it was literally sql between this and the clickhouse discussion x.x

I've assumed it's a graph database, you could probably confirm. Anyway, excited to see what agentic feeds can do.

Will it? Maybe. If you are winning handily the dredges will do their dredging yes, sort of. But that doesn't make me want to be a coward, doesn't make me want to sit quietly afraid in the dark. I too am against the dark forest. bsky.app/profile/nger...

I'm on atproto in large part because I believe in the radiance. Believe in sharing and networking, believe in human voice, in helping each other calibrate. I get that AI has spooked people but it doesn't change what our stance should be about sharing ourselves. Which is why many are here.

Much more speculatively I also have hope that perhaps this more democratic use of AI by actual humans can be greatly augmentative to people & our society. That this is a place where the work can be more shared, results iterated & critiqued, in broad view. Unlike most other systems. That's promise.

I'm worried about this being a doxxing "Easy Button." As with traditional doxxing, that it's not doing anything technically against the rules or new, just simplifying the organization of disparate info for interested parties, does not make it not bad. For the bsky team to provide the tool is 😬
JCorvinus
I have no doubt it's exactly the kind of thing you'd think of. I do learn from the best, after all

interesting. based on this description I've sort of been feeling like I need something like this to exist for me to enjoy experimenting with bsky data. like I want to play around with visualizing these things but I don't want to do all the data work.

I dont know what any of this means for me personally but I reflexively hate it.

Is it the clickhouse mentioned ?
P(aul) Frazee@pfrazee.com· 16 Mar
We've been doing some backfills lately (not using Tap). We're using the most recent relay -- which has somewhere between 14-18M repos enumerated. Backfilling into a clickhouse, one records table and one backlinks table, has taken about 24 hours.

Is the waitlist not available to non-bsky.social handles?

Looking through the comments in this post I'd like to remind everyone you're on a social media platform that's public. Being reminded the Internet is viewable by everyone on this planet can be a bit jarring when we're used to the idea that the words on our phone is a sanctuary.

As I say to my friends and family, if you don't want your words scrutinized by the entire planet, then use private means. Email still exists.

Wait so you trained an AI on the entire userbase of BlueSky without so much as an "opt-out"? FFS

So then what is meant by this database? Every post is just indexed for quick reference by the bot? For all intents and purposes that makes no difference for the average user that wants nothing to do with this.

Your question is answered in the first post. The LLM writes rules/queries/code that are run by an engine which surfaces those posts in a feed. It writes the queries, it doesn't query itself.

If I understood your post correctly, for setting up attie you guys decided to feed Claude all of our posts. So, can I somehow opt out of my posts being included in any database or feed to Claude in any form? Rogue 3rd party AI scraping bluesky is one thing, but this came directly from bluesky.
