typescript in nodejs in particular is just so great. we can just do away with vast swathes of crappy garbage

What do you use to do away with it? I have a pretty bespoke eslint config + plugins + madge + knip, and yet I still get bit sometimes by comparing objects or Arrays with `===`

the test runner built-in to node now is pretty neat

For me it's less the language and more all thr frameworks built up around it. Just hot reload by itself makes makes UI dev so much better

Honestly ECMA 6 was when it kicked off but the ecosystem kinda went down hill to nerf it smh
