#WhatAGeologistSees Not a carbonates guy, but suspect this is “black marble”…which could be marketed as just about anything…but likely “Black Granite”!

Black polished stone countertop visible amidst the fine 2-course meal…

Black Marble (?) likely marketed as “Black Granite”!

Geology as a service. I mean, not like a needed service…but like you get at a party when cornered by that Geo-dude.

Now it’s your turn. A spot of strong vinegar in a back corner and see if it fizzes after a bit. I would imagine the igneous rock Henning suggests is correct…a weird rock composed of dark feldspar and still likely sold to dumb Americans as “Black Granite” 🤣

That just means you wouldn’t scream “Don’t bring me this fabulous stone…I said I wanted granite counters!!!”
