more screenshots of my glade
5 3 78Is this how it looks in real-time or is there a special screenshot mode?
1 12there's a super in depth camera mode. it doesn't look that far off in real-time though (just a bit less blurry)
1 12ah phew it was really breaking my brain trying to figure out how to do the DoF in realtime lol
1 11I mean here's me using the camera mode
3 26oh that's wild. ok now I'm back to trying to figure out how they do that lol. high-quality high-radius blurs are expensive!
4 16there is in fact a computerphile video on this exact topic www.youtube.com/watch?v=vNG3...
Video Game & Complex Bokeh Blurs - Computerphile
YouTube video by Computerphile

And there was apparently a talk by one of the devs but I don't know if it was recorded? twitter.com/h3r2tic/stat...
1 3The computerphile video describes a technique that can bokeh-blur a flat plane (like, something uniformly far from camera) so if you want actual depth of field you need to split your scene up into layers, blur them separately, and composite - but whatever tiny glade does appears to be more clever
1 3that’s insane. it has, like, none of the failings of typical video game lens effects
