When we presented Elk, instead of being happy about another client in dev for Mastodon, some folks were outraged that we were using Discord for the community instead of Matrix. I love Matrix, and I'm rooting for them, but we had other servers there. There is now way to win with some people.

Depending on how you define it, even the Internet isn't decentralized. After all, we don't have tens of thousands of root name servers. And any given person only has one ISP they use predominantly. So probably helps if people figure out what they mean with the words they use. :)
