we have 2 options, gonna A/B test em. I love Growth
3 1 5is the other one the arrow springing out of a box to the right like it’s on fire, the node that’s self-replicating, the paper airplane, or a wild fourth option?
1 3Slack once A/B tested making the share button a curvy arrow (it used to be straight). It drove share clicks up by some crazy amount, and we declared success.
Many years later, I realized that maybe people were clicking it because they thought it was a reply button.
2also that’s an A/B/C test if there are three options, because i assume “no share button” is the control group 👀
1 1that sounds worryingly like the scientific method
2 4well also... when you _add_ a feature, it's very hard to discern actual growth. people could've been copying links often, and you don't know. once you have a button, you know. it could end up being the same number of people. fun with bias!
2how much do you think this will increase post sharing?
2 2my bet would be low, 1% to 8%, based on similar experiments i've done and seen with sharing over the years. share button is a must-have utility function but strangely it's not an actual growth driver on its own, in my experience. especially if all it does is "copy link to your clipboard".
