not a top requested feature but here’s the thing - currently reposting something feels super lame, because you don’t get any feedback. if you repost something good and all your friends like it via your repost, it would be super satisfying! I’m hoping it will encourage “curator” type accounts
11 3 67I think it would be fun to “get in on the ground floor” of a popular post and receive all the feedback for your refined curatorial taste
1 27Yup this! One of the reasons why I usually quote instead of reposting
9Yup. Awesome feature, thanks for implementing it!
2hoping there will at least be some sort of toggleable filter for this; i recognize everyone's tastes will be different, but personally this was one of the things i disliked the most about twitter's notif system
1 5Tbh that exact lack of feedback has encouraged me to, just, repost and share stuff without feeling the need to be "rewarded" for it.
I now repost things for the sake of reposting and sharing, not because I can pretend to be responsible for gathering likes on someone else's posts.
1 2This is such a great feature!
2"currently reposting something feels super lame"
so you're going to remove the repost feature? no?
also "lame" in this fashion is ableist
1Absolutely! (I do a LOT of reposting ... probably way too much.) Is this definitely a "thing" or something you're simply fooling around with?
1Please do not encourage the "curator" accounts when people already curate currently. It feels nice that people organically share things or personally create works they like. It sucks when people optimize reposts for the dopamine of a noisy inbox
This is not a lame feeling, it's a calm feeling
1The idea that the feedback for simply reposting someone else's work is for the user's benefit seems really silly. This is only beneficial for the platform's growth at the expense of the user's relationship with said platform
A user needing notification dopamine doesn't create good curators!
I’ve been looking at the existing curator accounts on the graph I’m building!
They tend not to get a lot of engagement unless they follow-farm pretty heavily or are otherwise well known
The kind of growth they need, if that’s what you want to encourage… is “following classic” for organic discovery
1a lot of them also do mass bot-liking to try to get more engagement as well.
Both of these patterns point to organic discovery being a big issue - and I’ve heard similar from creators that it can be harder to promote.
