why are we getting so many PRs for typos all of a sudden
I’d understand in-app typos, or in the readme, but people are fixing like random source code comment typos
is it to try and get contributor status on the repo?
We get a ton of those in Electron too, mostly it seems to be people reputation laundering for school, etc, by "contributing to open source". We politely decline typo fixes now because when we accepted a few, a flood more came in - we now ask them to be fixed as part of larger changes generally
that would be my guess - they want the contributor status to help with the resume and also probably doesn't help that bluesky-social was one of the orgs you got a free crypto drop for contributing too awhile ago
and im guessing its now really easy to tell claude "find any types and create a pull-request to fix them". you used to actually have to scan through the code before
Yes. Happens all the time on @codeedit.app. We updated our rules to make it so changes must make meaningful change or we just close them
So annoying and a waste of precious maintainer time
Pretty confident this is probably the case, yeah.
But then there are certain comments that might not be perfectly clear, but they understand it and they're looking to fix it in case anyone else was stuck in the same place (has happened to me sometimes when trying to understand the TypeScript).
VSCode, Vim and last time I used Intellij it’s not enabled by default
On vim you set spell and spelllang and for the others you need a plugin or something
