Gemini 2.5 Pro with internet search enabled can vibe code the chess board piece by piece and document it to the hell (it does this even without explicit prompting). then we could slap some smart words from Clean Code to make the code actually readable.
like, I could create the chess board using Compose Wasm, but the performance of Compose Wasm is atrocious because it loads the whole freaking Skia with itself.
waiting for it to move to WebGL2 or WebGPU
I mean that’d be cool, might be possible, but the nice property about chess is that you can objectively validate the board state from the move list - there’s no secrets
I think chess is a great first choice for this reason. I've been thinking about it too. I was thinking of using it for a card game. But yeah it's all there for chess, someone tries to cheat, can just call the game there.

Rust web assembly has gotten really good and that logic probably mostly just port over without much I’d bet!
The idea I’ve been playing around with is just using the JetStream to trigger when an opponent moves. Won’t have to use an XRPC service, just all atproto
i worked out a lexicon for chess and then dropped the project after fighting oauth for a bit
i didn’t think about jetstream at all, i was thinking email chess style lol
if you can do that, why not go full-ham and play an RTS or FPS game over atproto? is this the solution that www.stopkillinggames.com has been looking for? ;)
and up to 10k dids! a whole following feed, client side! (doing replay might be a little unkind on the current jetstream impl though)
((also, spacedust has similar filtering, but by link target. you really could build a whole client client))
Ok so I am a big fat dummy, & I only loosely grasp what these terms really mean, & what is possible, so! I asked my trusty Gemini to explain it, which it did quite well!
...Gem *also* suggested an incredibly interesting way one could visualize this data in a client. & I want it. I want it now.
