wow. didn't know that. android fanboys talk as if the only reason not everyone uses android is because we're brainwashed by the apple mafia (obv this goes both ways, but its gotten intense from androids side lately) I guess it makes sense given the fragmentation of thousands of phones to build for

as a rule most app devs first build for the iphone. that influences like, a lot of these. and on the iphone there is more of a, ah, culture around making good apps

Been running Android since Gingerbread, and honestly you get used to it. Still, I usually recommend Apple users to stay on Apple devices because they will rarely ever adapt. Likewise I could never go iPhone. It feels like having your arms tied behind your back and being wrapped in bubble wrap to me

thats weird, i have an iphone forced on me for work and everything is shittier, its impossible to even select text properly, and it takes so much control from you - like auto disabling the hotspot when im trying to use it for work. very irritating and i do not get the appeal at all

Yeah, I had an iPhone for a long time, now I have Pixel and an iPhone for work and can't stand the iPhone. All of the apps on the iPhone are worse.

have you tried taking pictures yet? when i briefly had a Pixel 6 it had this TurboEnhanced HDR™️ setting that you couldn’t disable that basically made everything look like deep fried memes from like 2014

this is wild to me because i find the apps uniformly better but slightly less pretty

As a former Android-phone user who has also spent many years observing other Android-phone users, you spend a lot of time acting like you have the moral high-ground over each and every person using an iPhone.

You mean how do we live with the freedom to make our device however we see fit, to place app icons and widgets wherever we please, to install whatever we want, to not be told you can or cannot? Life has been great here for as long as the ecosystem has existed. Getting a taste of freedom can be scary

Went from an iPhone to the Pixel 9 pro fold and I find android to be much more enjoyable to use on a day-to-day basis

I dunno, my experience has been pretty good with Pixel 6a. Only app I can think of that I've had issues with before on multiple occasions has been Instagram. I've also taken some pretty good photos (these are my favorites :D) with it, at least imo:
A photo of the night sky. Towards the bottom, there's a few treesA photo of a lake with a reflection of the night sky with buildings in the background.

I do not either. But the Pixel 7 was the first Android device that made me actually appreciate my React Native App and run pretty fucking decent.

I have several dev phones, including an iPhone Xr from 2018 that still run iOS 18 smoothly, and a Pixel 4a from 2020 that is stucked on Android 13 and a bit junky 😬

I know. I never said good, but Pixel 7 is a useable device. Anything else i had before is a nightmare. Not only React Native Apps, everything is just janky. And I hate the scrolling and physics on Android so much.

Most apps are fine but sometimes it feels like the devs didn't even test their apps

strange. I generally find the apps I use on both work about equally as well on my iPad and my Pixel, though from a design perspective iOS is maybe a bit more consistent? I will say that I VASTLY prefer Android's open nature, both from the user and dev side + oh my god Material 3/You are delicious

like I dunno, and maybe a hot take, but the overall iPad experience is :/ enough to me, I cannot imagine also having to deal with that for my phone with that + the pricing I simply do not get the appeal of iPhones

I’ve always said, if I could have a device how I want, it’d be an iPhone with Android, but all the apps conforming to Apples HIG

I asked my girlfriend the same thing. She is so organized that I think this is the most chaos she allows in her life.

Would recommend Smart Launcher over any normal default grid launcher. it's one of the few apps I actually bought (they have a free version too that's plenty good)

I also recently got one for work. I ran into bugs with all the apps I typically use - Slack was not working with slack's own corp vpn lol.

My copeium is that janky apps make me use my phone less, and that's a good thing. Embrace the paradox of "my phone is better because it's worse".
