that or i really need to make my hls player usable outside of the specific context of my vodjam entry bc it's ACTUALLY useful for Firefox compat lol

The most irritating thing of all is Firefox Mobile supports PWAs, but after the fall of FirefoxOS many years ago, they refuse to add it to desktop. Firefox Mobile also has this collections thing... which *does not* sync to desktop. Like... huh???

It's always funny to me that for a brief while, even during IE11, Trident was the only actual standards compliant rendering engine that also had features nobody else had.

I literally have hls playback in desktop firefox lmao. idk maybe my vendored version of wasp-hls is doing weird sorcery but it does work.

oh i mean, sure if you add a hls library lol. we use hls.js for bsky. but safari/chrome support just whacking a .m3u8 in a <video> tag with zero dependencies

if you wanna verify: const video = document.createElement('video') console.log(video.canPlayType('application/vnd.apple.mpegurl') !== '' ? 'yep' : 'nope')

How exactly are you using wasp-hls? I looked it up and can't make sense of that from the project's readme.

I have vendored and substantially modified it lol. basically took the rust core and integrated it directly rather than using all the js it had around it

Orual
also added a bunch of features, either in the vendored version or around it, like the crazy powerful subtitle stuff.
